If you have any questions or concerns, you can access our Assistance and Referral services. Simply call, email or visit us during our office hours to get started. 

**While the information and services below are available to anyone, the Deposit Foundation can only serve people who live in the Deposit, NY school district. Proof of residency is required.**

First Call for Help 211 is a United Way function where they direct people to organizations/programs for help in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, and Tioga Counties in New York State.

Deposit Food Pantry

Located in the back of the Town of Sanford Building at 91 Second Street, Deposit.

Open on Thursdays from 3:00 to 6:00pm

You may access this service once a month for emergency food.

Free Food from the Food Bank of the Southern Tier Truck

Located at the Deposit Fire Station 

Changes due to Covid-19: Feb Distribution

will be on Friday Feb 26. You must call the day before on Feb 25 starting at 8:30am to register. 

Bring your own boxes, and arrive early for a good spot in line.

Salvation Army Food Voucher

A once a year benefit if funds are available. If you have an urgent need, come into the Deposit Foundation office, or call us to get started. *Try to use the local food pantry first before requesting a voucher. Funds are limited.*

Deposit’s Summer Lunch Program

This operates in the summer months when school is out.

Generally open Monday through Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Located at the Deposit Central School Elementary School cafeteria.

Kids under the age of 18 can eat for free!

Over 18 will be charged around $2.00.

There is no residency or income requirement!

Help with prescriptions

Salvation Army Voucher:

  • If you need a life sustaining/vital prescription, do not have insurance, and can't afford your prescription, the Deposit Foundation may be able to write you a voucher.

  • Call our office at 467-4000, or stop in during office hours. 

 

Discount prescription cards:  

  • The Deposit Foundation will provide one for those without insurance.

  • Stop into the office to pick one up.

GoodRX:

  • Use this site/app to compare prices for your prescriptions and find the pharmacies with the lowest price.

  • Receive coupons and discounts.

 

Check with the company who makes your prescription to see if they have an assistance program. Income eligibility is likely.

Emergency Funds

Lend A Hand through the Press-Sun Bulletin will help in certain instances of need with a small, once-a-year grant

This grant can be used for one of the following: fuel for heating, cooking, bathing, shut off notices, or eviction notices. If you need more help our Assistance and Referral agent can find you additional aid. 

 

The Deposit Foundation can also help with grant writing.

Clothing/Essentials

Clothing & Small Essentials

Deposit’s Closet can provide free clothing to families in need. They also have household goods and other essential items. If you have a fire or other extenuating circumstance, come into the Deposit Foundation office to discuss your situation. Not only can we write a voucher for the Deposit Closet, but we may be able to give further assistance depending on the situation.

 

Council of Churches

The Council of Churches can provide help for stranded travelers (gasoline and overnight expenses). Contact Pastor Debra Arnold of the First United Methodist Church or one of the other ministers.
